What is ErasmusIntern?

Erasmusintern.org is an integrated marketplace offering internships across the European Union and neighbouring countries. The initiative seeks to increase awareness of the existence of international traineeships for the youth and enhance students’ international opportunities on the European job market. ErasmusIntern, hence, gives you the chance to pursue professional development and gain experience internationally.

What type of internships can I find there?

ErasmusIntern offers more than 1300 different opportunities for you to pursue an internship, both online and offline. You can find internships from 2 up to 12 months, offered either part-time or full-time and at a Bachelor, Master and PhD level. There are internships directed at a wide range of disciplines, including Business Management, Law, Design, Social Sciences, Architecture, Agriculture, and Education. A bit of everything. You can easily find what suits you best by using their filter! Furthermore, you will also find special offers with the “Digital Opportunity” tag. These opportunities are sponsored by the Commission, and are directed at increasing the youth’s digital skills, to enhance “Europe’s global competitiveness”.

How does it work?

To participate in this initiative you must be enrolled in an EU university (or have graduated recently). You just need to head to erasmusintern.org, browse the opportunities that suit you best, sign up, and apply following the guidelines provided in each opportunities' description. Easy! You can either pursue this internship independently or as part of the Erasmus+ programme. This means you could include the experience as part of your higher education, and even receive subsidies for it. Find more information here.

An initiative by Erasmus Student Network, supported by the European Commission

This portal is managed by Erasmus Student Network (ESN), a non-profit international student organisation whose mission is to help and represent international students across Europe with more than 13.000 members. At the same time, it offers services to more than 180.000 students per year. This opportunity platform is part of the STORY project, also part of ESN, which investigates the issue of accessibility, quality and recognition for both study and traineeship mobility programmes. Furthermore, the project is funded by the European Commission via the Erasmus+ programme, which you can read about in its dedicated article.

Strengthening Youth Employment and Quality Opportunities

Shifting from academia to the real professional world can be a big challenge for most students. While making this shift, it is generally accepted that traineeships, internships, and apprenticeships provide a smoother transition between the two worlds, by providing enhanced professional skills and knowledge. Hence, to assure quality internships, the European Youth Forum created the European Quality Charter of Internships and Apprenticeships, which lays down basic quality principles for internships and apprenticeships to “become a valuable and quality experience across Europe''. In this sense, as a member of the European Youth Forum, ESN has established ErasmusIntern to provide quality internships to students.
