Study Trips

The ECA organizes Study Trips around the EU to participate in conferences and events, visit the offices of public institutions and private companies, and participate in educational institutions’ open days. Each term the number of trips changes, but you can expect a minimum of three trips a year. The ECA has already visited locations such as the Council of Europe, the European Parliament, the European Youth Event, and UM Campus Brussels. Only members can attend the ECA Study Trips.

Past Trips

 

Brussels Study Trip

On Thursday 23rd May 2024, ECA will go for a one-day Study Trip to Brussels! We will visit FTI Consulting where we will learn about careers in public affairs consulting, as well as have a chance to network with professionals in that field, including UM Alumni. You will also get free time to explore the city centre, and see all the institutions headquartered in Brussels together with the fellow participants. Additionally, later in the afternoon you will have a chance to network with ECA Alumni that already live and work in the EU Bubble, giving you an opportunity to gain useful insights how it is transitioning from a student to a young professional and expand your network. The price of this trip is 35€, including the return tickets.

 

Milan Networking Trip - ECA x European Generation

The three-day experience is organized by @europeangeneration , a Bocconi Students Association aspiring to unite international students from different backgrounds to shape the Europe of tomorrow!

Luxembourg Study Trip

Join us on our 2-day trip to Luxembourg!!🇱🇺
Explore the heart of Europe and seize its myriad opportunities and connections!🏛️We will visit the European Institutions, such as the Court of Justice of the European Union, the European Investment Bank and Eurostat!

Brussels Study Trip

The first study trip of the academic year 2022/2023: ECA goes to BRUSSELS on November 24th to 25th! In just two days, our members had the opportunity to experience the “Brussels Bubble” and gain insight into different EU careers! They could meet and network with consultants at ADS Insight, learn about the work of Debating Europe and talk with journalists at Euractiv. Additionally, ECA visited the European Commission with a special focus on the DG Competition and the Council of the EU. ECA also organised a UM Alumni Event where our members could talk with former UM students about their European careers and much more!

  • Programme:

November 24th: Early departure from Maastricht. Visit to the European Commission, general presentation of the institution and a detailed presentation of the work at DG Competition. Visit at Euractiv, presentation about their work, networking with ECA alumni working there. Visit to the Council of the EU, presentation by a political administrator in Horizontal and Global Affairs. Networking event with ECA & UM alumni at AKT Brussels.

November 25th: Visit to Debating Europe, general presentation and a mini focus group discussion. Visit to ADS Insight, introduction of the consultancy and networking with ECA alumni working there. Visit to the European Commission DG Energy, presentation of their work and current topics on their agenda. Departure to Maastricht.


Strasbourg: EYE & Council of Europe

ECA Maastricht went to Strasbourg! During this study trip, ECA members visited one of the seats of the European Institutions, participated in the European Youth Event 2021 at the European Parliament, and visited the Council of Europe, all in 4 days! The European Youth Event (EYE) is a bi-annual conference, bringing together thousands of young people from all over the European Union and beyond, to shape and share their ideas on the future of Europe (https://european-youth-event.europarl.europa.eu/). In 2021, it focused on the topics covered by the Conference on the Future of Europe (https://futureu.europa.eu/). The ECA was chosen as an activity organizer for EYE 2021 with the panel “27+? Youth take on EU Neighbourhood Policy and enlargement”.

  • Programme:

October 7th: Early departure from Maastricht. Visit to the Council of Europe, tour of the buildings, and presentation on the institution and the career opportunities there. Hotel check-in. ECA group dinner at Flam’s.

October 8th: Participation in EYE 2021 – choose your own activities on the EYE platform. At 16:45, you can join the ECA activity: “27+? Youth take on EU Neighbourhood Policy and enlargement”. In the evening, join the European Emerging Bands Contest.

October 9th: Participation in EYE 2021 – choose your own activities on the EYE platform.

October 10th: Free time for sightseeing around Strasbourg. Departure to Maastricht around 16:00.

 

Luxembourg: CJEU & Innpact

On Tuesday, March 15th 2022 the European Careers Association will go for a day trip to Luxembourg! We will leave Maastricht at 5:00 am on Tuesday and return by 9:00 pm on the same day. there you will get the chance to visit the Court of Justice of the European Union, as well as a private company, Innpact.

Brussels: EU Institutions and Private Sector

ECA goes to Brussels from June 16th to 17th! In two days you will have the opportunity to experience the “Brussels Bubble” and gain invaluable insight into your future career plans. Amongst other things, you will have the opportunity to meet and network with consultants from Political Intelligence and ADS Insight, two leading public affairs consultancies. You will gain valuable knowledge from the EP Head of the Human Rights Action unit about his work as well as insight for the recruitment of trainees in the European Parliament. And much more! The purpose of these visits is to present YOU with a multitude of professional opportunities in EU affairs in just 48 hours.

The Hague: Kosovo Specialist Chambers and The ICC

On Tuesday, 28th of November 2023, ECA will go for a one-day Study Trip to The Hague! We will visit many fascinating institutions which will be disclosed in the days to come, so stay tuned. You will also get free time to explore the city centre and see all the institutions headquartered in The Hague with fellow participants. The price is 25€, including the return train tickets.
