On the 4th of February, we invite you to a high profile guest lecture from Mr David Allen, the Director of Business Operations at the World Health Organization (WHO) in the European Regional Office. This special event will provide valuable insights into a career in international organizations. Mr Allen has over 25 years of remarkable experience working in multiple United Nations agencies from country to headquarter levels focusing on administration and human resources. Within UNDP, the Colombia graduate in M.A. International Relations and Affairs, held positions as the Chief of Operations and Regional Operations Adviser for Asia and the Pacific as well as the Deputy Resident Representative in Iraq and Somalia. With an outstanding passion for humanitarian and relief efforts, Mr Allen started his career at the World Food Programme (WFP) contributing to operations in Rwanda and Zaire.
Based on his longstanding experience in human resources, Mr Allen is best suited to talk about what is needed from young graduates planning a career in international organizations. He will tell you:
- What - in terms of traits, experience or skills - employees such as the WHO are looking for in young graduates;
- How being an expat and changing your country of residence often affects your life;
- What work at the WHO looks like;
- Who should consider a career of this type;
- and how his personal career path developed and what influenced his choices in it
Join this special event on the 4th of February at 6 pm live on zoom and do not hesitate to ask Mr. Allen any questions you might have in the Q&A at the end!
