How much do you think one could know about you based off the data that was collected about you online? Probably, more than you are aware of. This is why data Protection is one of the fundamental rights in the European Union. But what happens when our data does not stay in the EU, but gets exported, for example, to the US? Two landmark cases, called Schrems 1 and Schrems 2, invalidated the EU’s mechanisms to protect our data abroad. Today, the EU’s data export standards are on shaky grounds again.
